HOLD FAST FRIDAY 09/25/15
When the Game Starts
Through the blackness of night, the lights shine bright. The stadium is sold out. The crowds’ roar is deafening. The opposition stares across the field, eyes blazing red. Your teammates are next to you, nerves twisting with anticipation. Years of training has led to this moment. It is Friday night, game time.
Every day since as long as I can remember has been dedicated to the cause, researching every angle to gain that extra edge. Carefully planning what the best meals are for aiding in lean muscle growth and recovery. When is the best time to eat certain foods? Changing the mindset entirely about food, gone are the days of satisfying cravings. Food is fuel.
Day after day and hour after hour, workouts have taken on a new meaning. No longer are they dreaded feats of effort, but a necessity for life. Looking back at past mistakes, ask yourself where did I fall short? I take the extra time for skill work, turning my so-called weaknesses into strengths. Focusing on the foundational movements and attacking them with a more mature mindset. I smartly plan recovery and active recovery days. Turn the past training mistakes into present success. The body is a living machine.
Staring back at the opposition, the roar of the crowd begins to fade away. The stadium lights disappear. Blocking out all distractions, my goals come into focus. We are the sum of all our parts. There is no game.
